Shinshin Toitsu Aikido, founded by Master Koichi Tohei in 1974, teaches how to maximize natural abilities and respect others through the principle of "Mind moves Body." This principle emphasizes the mind's influence on physical performance, applicable to all aspects of life. With over 50,000 practitioners worldwide, Shinshin Toitsu Aikido transcends cultural and religious boundaries.
The core concept is Ki, and its connection to posture. Correct posture, achieved through mind-body coordination, provides stability and facilitates effective movement. This isn't about controlling others, but about self-control. Ki tests verify this coordination, even used by athletes and artists.
Four Major Principles guide mind-body unification: Keep One Point, Relax Completely, Keep Weight Underside, and Extend Ki. Mastering one principle leads to understanding them all.
The Five Principles of Shinshin Toitsu Aikido teach respect and leadership: Ki is extending, Know your opponent’s mind, Respect your opponent’s Ki, Put yourself in your opponent’s place, and Perform with confidence. These principles enable effective leading and throwing regardless of size or strength, making Shinshin Toitsu Aikido accessible to everyone and applicable to daily life, from management to parenting.
